Florida Sky

She smiles down at her world
And says,
I think the pale blue sweats and top will be just the thing.
Comfortable for jogging.
And all fresh and clean.

I'll wear something louder at noon–
An azure summer dress
With lacy white accessories for luncheon.

And tonight the shimmering pink evening gown
With orange ribbons woven
Through my dark tresses
I'll glow like Katniss the fire girl.
It's all the rage.

But when she's angry
(Or frightened)
She pouts and wails.

She puts on her heavy black coat
And screams at you saying
Stay away
Don't
Talk to me
Don't
Come see me.

And she storms around outside
Eyes flashing; fuming uncontrollably
For an hour or two.

If you try to argue with her
You can't win.
But if you truly love her
You might go outside anyway.

You might spread your arms –
And weep with her.

If you do,
She'll stroke your face with her tears
Then forgive you
With a clear face and a radiant smile.
